Organization and Ownership

AMI is Alternative Manufacturing, Inc. doing business as AMI serving New England customers and beyond.

AMI was founded as a Maine corporation in 1989 when a group of engineering and manufacturing personnel left employment with Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) to enter and compete in what was then known as the contract manufacturing industry.

As it grew and prospered AMI continuously broadened its scope of services, and its ownership group changed and expanded accordingly.

In 2008 AMI was purchased in whole by Electronic Services Corporation (ESC), which is a Maine corporation that AMI was intrumental in establishing.

Electronic Services Corporation is wholly owned by the Electronic Services Corporation Employee Stock Ownership Program, a federally sanctioned trust that governs ESC as a 100 per cent employee owned company.
